Below is the Prevention & Support Network Newsletter sent from the Office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Valued Community Members,

I am excited to announce a BONUS Prevention and Support Network event, which will take place on Tuesday, June 18th at Veterans Inc. in Shrewsbury.

When our team traveled to Atlanta for the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit, we heard from Connecticut New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (NEHIDTA) on the importance of multisector collaboration. This June, we are bringing Bobby and Anna from Connecticut NEHIDTA to Worcester County to share their insights.

Our "Finding Common Ground: Public Health and Public Safety Collaboration" event will delve into WHY teamwork is imperative to our substance use disorder prevention, intervention, and treatment efforts. Our speakers will also help us understand HOW to best communicate and work together to both reduce both fatal and non-fatal overdoses in our communities and increase engagement in substance use disorder services. Law enforcement, harm reduction specialists, and all agencies that touch substance use are highly encouraged to attend.

Please note that we will not be having resource tables at this event. With any event questions, please contact Caroline.Root@mass.gov or Luke.Piers@mass.gov.

Additionally, I encourage you to check out the upcoming community events section below. During the month of May, we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, National Prevention Week (May 12 - May 18), and Fentanyl Awareness Day on May 7th. Many community agencies have been working hard to organize mental health and substance use events throughout Worcester County.

Of note, our annual Student Wellness Conference is coming up on May 21st - please see the flyer below to register!

Stay well,

Joe
